Position Overview

We have an opportunity for a PhD-level immunologist with a strong background in biologics discovery and industry project leadership. The Senior Scientist will report directly to the Head of Biology and work closely with the Fortitude Biomedicines team. As the project leader for one of our discovery programs, the successful candidate will oversee research activities, manage collaborations with CROs and vendors, and guide the program toward Development Candidate (DC) selection. In the future, the candidate will also have the opportunity to supervise junior scientists and contribute directly from the bench when the company establishes laboratory operations in the greater Boston area.

Key Responsibilities

• Project leadership: lead and drive the biologics discovery program, ensuring alignment with corporate R&D goals, timelines, and budgets.
• CRO selection and management: supervise and coordinate research activities with vendors and CROs, ensuring high-quality deliverables and compliance with project milestones.
• Biologics discovery: provide scientific and strategic guidance on antibody discovery and biologics development.
• Cross-functional collaboration: work closely with the internal team and external partners to advance program objectives.
• Data analysis and decision making: perform and oversee data review and interpretation to make well-informed decisions for DC selection.
• Scientific leadership: mentor junior scientists and provide expertise in immunology and biologics research.
• Future lab work: contribute to laboratory-based experiments including new assay development and mechanistic studies.

Qualifications & Experience

• PhD in Immunology or a related field 
• At least 5 years of industry experience with a proven track record of project leadership.
• Expertise in immunology, antibody discovery, and biologics development is required.
• Prior experience managing external vendors and CROs is essential.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to drive cross-functional team success.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of preclinical biologics development and IND-enabling studies.
• Hands-on experience in immune cell assays, flow cytometry, and functional bioassays.
