Job Description

Role Overview:

This role focuses on executing and supporting advanced protein analytics workflows including LC-MS, peptide mapping, and a variety of biophysical assays. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with large molecule characterization and an eagerness to contribute in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain mass spectrometry platforms for protein characterization (e.g., intact MS, peptide mapping).
  • Perform data analysis using MS software and bioinformatics tools to assess quality attributes of therapeutic proteins and novel biologics.
  • Execute biophysical assays such as SEC, HIC, CE-SDS, DSF, DLS, and Buffer Exchange.
  • Generate and present frequent characterization summary reports.
  • Troubleshoot automation methods and instrumentation to ensure high-throughput reliability.
  • Follow and enhance SOPs related to biologics characterization.
  • Document work in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and support data reporting.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Minimum B.S. in Protein Sciences, Chemical/Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Advanced degrees and/or additional training are desirable.

Experience (Required):

  • B.S. with 6+ years, M.S. with 4+ years, or Ph.D. with 1–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.

Technical Skills (Required):

  • Experience with LC-MS sample preparation and operation for protein analysis.
  • Familiarity with mass spectrometry data workflows and biophysical assay execution.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage time and prioritize effectively in a lab-based role.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with high-resolution MS instruments (e.g., Agilent Q-TOF, Thermo Orbitraps).
  • Proficiency in MS software such as BioPharma Finder, BioConfirm; Empower experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with UPLC systems (Vanquish, Acquity), light scattering techniques, and ELN platforms.
  • Experience working with large molecules, especially antibodies.

  • This role requires 100% onsite presence in the lab.
  • Candidates must be eager to work with various instruments, support collaborative discovery efforts, and continuously enhance workflows.
  • Must-Haves: Experience with large molecules (e.g., antibodies), LC-MS expertise, strong documentation and data analysis skills.
