AI Developer

The Company

A technology company revolutionizes data management with an AI-driven platform, leveraging corporate unstructured data to enhance efficiency. The Lead AI Developer joins a small team of developers, driving AI initiatives to strengthen the platform’s unique selling proposition.

Role and Responsibilities

The Lead AI Developer will dedicate 50% or more of their time to hands-on coding while still in a leadership role. You’ll lead projects, provide technical guidance, and deliver AI solutions to maximize the impact of unstructured data, collaborating with engineers and product managers.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI components, including RAG, LLMs, data pipelines, similarity search, and model context protocols using Python, C++, or TypeScript.
• Build multi-modal AI solutions for search and retrieval with knowledge graphs for unstructured data relationships.
• Apply prompt engineering with LangChain to reduce LLM hallucinations and improve generation control.
• You’ll leverage AI frameworks like HuggingFace or PyTorch to enhance distributed systems.
• Contribute to the AI strategy roadmap and build expertise in the platform’s tech stack.

Job Requirements

• Ability to thrive in a hybrid San Francisco environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s in computer science with a focus on generative AI or machine learning.
• 5+ years developing distributed backend systems at scale.
• 2+ years of experience with LLMs, generative AI, or agentic AI.
• Understanding of unstructured data challenges and approaches.
• Preferred: Experience fine-tuning base models, benchmarking for contextual relevance, and using emerging AI tools to boost productivity.
