Music Therapy provides therapeutic music interventions for hospitalized children, assessing their emotional, developmental, and educational needs to help them feel supported and empowered throughout their medical experiences. Thoughtfully develops, plans, and implements music therapy programs that bring comfort and joy, grounded in family-centered care principles. Listens deeply, documents each session with care, and responds to each child's unique needs, fostering warm and trusting connections with patients and their families. Collaborates with management to ensure all resources and guidance are aligned for the best possible therapeutic outcomes.
Communicates effectively by clarifying treatment goals, speaking confidently about therapeutic plans, and documenting progress clearly. Adapts quickly to changing priorities and remains calm under pressure, taking initiative to meet high standards of care and therapeutic goals. Supports psychosocial and child life objectives through structured music therapy interventions, effectively coordinating with other clinical teams. Contributes to quality improvement efforts by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices, promoting continuous improvement within the music therapy program.

Monday/Wednesday and Thursday (4 hours a day) Tuesday- (8 hours )

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support implementation of comprehensive programs within music therapy for assigned clinical population to assess and address needs and experiences of hospitalized children, patients, and families.
  • Prepare and execute individualized therapeutic care plans for the developmental and psychosocial well-being of the children to promote healthy coping
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients and families to identify needs in order to set short and/or long-term goals.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate preparations and/ or support for medical experiences of patients and families for healthy expression, adaption, and development of coping mechanisms.
  • Develop, oversee, facilitate, and modify individual/group activities and programming to address needs of assigned patients and families.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team as necessary.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in Music Therapy or related field preferred
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
  • Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential from the Certification board for Music Therapists.
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Fluency in additional languages strongly encouraged.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $49,920 - $87,360 per year for the role of Music Therapist I.
