Litigation Legal Assistant

National law firm with an excellent reputation is seeking to hire a Legal Assistant for their new offices in Seattle, WA

Seeking a stellar, Legal Assistant with 5-10 years of litigation experience. The Legal Assistant will support multiple attorneys and will be assigned a variety of responsibilities. Successful candidates must have excellent time management skills, be technically savvy, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and be able to efficiently prioritize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Position Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), with advanced skills.
  • Expertise in Adobe Acrobat, including tasks like bates labeling, PDF document splitting and merging, PDF file optimization, and size reduction.
  • Adept in navigating e-filing systems and procedures in both state and federal courts.
  • Experienced in utilizing file-sharing tools for seamless document sharing.
  • Thorough understanding of the litigation process, especially in the context of maritime law and the legal assistant's role.
  • Familiarity with the technology and procedures involved in assisting attorneys with timekeeping, billing, and administrative tasks.
  • Competent in electronic document management systems.
  • Quick to adapt to and embrace new technologies as required.

Responsibilities related to organizing and maintaining files throughout the litigation process:

  • Conducting conflicts checks and initiating client file setup.
  • Aiding attorneys in managing schedules, calendars, and business travel plans.
  • Facilitating communication with clients, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties under attorney guidance.
  • Efficiently managing electronic case files.
  • Accurate calendaring and docketing of litigation deadlines.
  • Preparation of attorney and office-related expenses.
  • Handling vendor invoice processing.
  • Assisting with general office tasks.
