Award-winning escape room company CU Adventures is looking to hire a bar general manager for our newest addition: a 16,000 sq ft fantasy-themed minigolf bar, scheduled to open in Fall 2025.
Parcadia is an immersive experience unlike anything else in the US, blending incredibly high-tech indoor miniature golf, fantasy-themed private event spaces, and craft cocktails. From the moment guests enter the building, they are immersed in a magical kingdom, complete with a mysterious forest, a picturesque medieval village, and (mostly) friendly creatures.
The beverage side of the business will focus on craft cocktails and mocktails, wine, and beer, with a focus on high-quality, local options whenever possible. If you’re a longtime bartender who plays Dungeons & Dragons, goes to the Ren Faire, or has a background in theatre, this place is for you.
We’re passionate about making whatever we do unique, fun, and high-quality; we’re looking for someone who has experience managing a bar, is familiar with Health and Safety codes, is committed to creating an amazing experience for our guests, and can help us create a fair and equitable place to work for our staff.
Job Responsibilities:
-Assist in final design and setup of bar: create menus/drink specs and hire/train opening staff. Ideally, assist owners with handling purchasing for smallwares and seating and working with vendors to set up initial inventory.
-After opening, maintain inventory, budget, & purchasing of product and supplies.
-Create and maintain maintenance/cleaning schedule for all equipment, create and complete regular reports, and ensure staff have all required certification on an ongoing basis.
-Adhere to all CU Public Health requirements and ensure all staff are, as well.
-Oversee, train, and schedule bar staff & special events planning.
-Design and encourage showmanship and theatricality in preparation/serving of drinks at the bar.
-Collaborating with the minigolf/experience management team to ensure the entire business runs smoothly.
Work Hours & Benefits:
This is a full-time salaried position that includes weeknights and weekends. Furthermore, this is an on-site job; remote working will not be possible. We encourage a collaborative and creative environment; additionally, benefits include paid time off, health insurance, and year-end bonuses.
Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 plus benefits
Start Date: Summer 2025, exact date TBD. Bar opening Fall 2025
Qualifications & Experience:
-Experience bartending and managing a bar.
-Barista/coffeeshop experience is a plus.
-Experience in mixology (including non-alcoholic beverages) and menu design.
-Experience performing, or at least comfortable being the center of attention.
-Ability to multitask and lead staff through fast-paced service when necessary.
-Creative problem-solving skills.
-Great customer service, organization skills, and attention to detail.
-Comfortable with POS systems.
-BASSET and ideally Food Manager’s Certificate. We will provide Food Manager’s Certificate training if necessary.
-High-school diploma or GED and basic computer skills.
-A willingness to jump into this exciting endeavor with us!
Relocation assistance may be possible for the right candidate. Champaign-Urbana is a progressive, welcoming community with a low cost of living that frequently places on "best small cities to live in" lists. Home of the University of Illinois, there's never a shortage of things to do - but if you need an occasional weekend getaway, Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail are easy, convenient drives.
At CU Adventures we build and create our own original content; so if you have experience as a creator, artist, or writer, we'd love to see samples of your work.
CU Adventures is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages members of marginalized communities to apply!
