Job Description

Join our flourishing Garden Center as a Maintenance Lead and contribute to our mission of providing customers with a beautiful and well-maintained shopping environment. We pride ourselves on offering a wide variety of high-quality plants, garden supplies, and exceptional customer service. As a Maintenance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our Garden Center, ensuring a pleasant experience for our customers. This position involves supervising personnel, managing projects, and ensuring the smooth operation of maintenance tasks. The role reports directly to the Sales Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly system checks
  • Oversee operations of all maintenance tasks
  • Conduct spot checks of all walkways, parking lots, and container courtyards
  • Ensure removal of trash, empty boxes, and other waste items
  • Perform general trash pickup and maintenance in all Garden Center zones
  • Check and remove weeds, broken branches, and dead plants
  • Monitor and organize rows of plants for easier stocking
  • Clean up areas of empty pots and other related materials
  • Coordinate and assist with locating and relocating sold materials
  • Conduct and coordinate all garden center deliveries
  • Ensure all equipment is fueled and carts are clean
  • Tag and maintain all fountains and statues with correct information
  • Build and maintain all displays, including fountains and statues
  • Maintain water levels and cleanliness of fountains and water features
  • Assist customers with loading purchases into their vehicles
  • Unload and load products, materials, and supplies
  • Assist all Garden Center departments with daily routines or tasks during slow periods
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of management principles and maintenance practices
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations
  • High level of technical knowledge within the specific field
  • Proper handling of hazardous materials and cleaning agents
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to supervise, develop, motivate, and train staff
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to operate equipment such as golf carts, loaders, and forklifts
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work weekends as needed
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and pulling
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
  • Team player with a positive attitude
