Position Title: Full Stack Developer (Cloud Modernization & Adaptive Maintenance)

Location: Metropolitan DC/Northern Virginia with possible hybrid schedule

Clearance: U.S. Citizenship is required with an active DHS/EOD clearance or a DoD Top Secret clearance.

** PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ACTIVE DHS/EOD CLEARANCE OR A DOD TOP SECRET CLEARANCE. **

Position Overview:

Indev is seeking highly capable Full Stack Developers with a mix of skill sets to support the modernization and adaptive maintenance of legacy federal systems. This is a high-impact role on a fast-paced team tasked with rebuilding mission-critical applications in the cloud. You will contribute across the technology stack—frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure—to deliver performant, real-time applications that meet strict availability, compliance, and interoperability requirements.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in modern development frameworks, can build and consume APIs, and understands the challenges of real-time data exchange, cloud deployment, and secure coding within a federal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development & Integration

  • Build and maintain robust frontend and backend components for real-time cloud applications while also creating bidirectional data flow to keep legacy systems running during development
  • Develop RESTful APIs and WebSocket services for low-latency, bidirectional communication.
  • Support adaptive maintenance activities for legacy-to-cloud migration efforts.
  • Provide input into designing serverless architectures, microservices, and ways to innovatively accelerate code development.

Cloud-Native Engineering

  • Deploy applications in AWS Gov Cloud environments using services such as EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud), Lambda, RDS (Relational Database Services), S3 (Simple Storage Service), CloudFront, SQS (Simple Queue Service), and API Gateway.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Operational Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (or Deployment) pipelines, performance monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code.

Security & Compliance

  • Apply secure coding practices to meet DHS and federal security guidelines.
  • Participate in peer reviews, vulnerability assessments, and ensure Section 508 accessibility compliance where needed.
  • Ensure that security is integrated into all phases of the legacy system modernization lifecycle.

Agile Delivery

  • Contribute to sprint planning, user story refinement, and cross-functional Agile ceremonies.
  • Work collaboratively with analysts, DevOps, testers, stakeholders and other developers to deliver scalable, secure features.
  • Listen attentively to stakeholder needs and actively contribute to identifying potential solutions, ensuring technical feasibility while maintaining a user-centric focus in the development process. Effectively translating goals and business rules into actionable technical requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field from a U.S.-accredited institution.
  • 6+ years of experience in full stack development, including real-time or cloud-native applications.
  • Experience effectively communicating with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, designers, and product owners, to understand project requirements, clarify expectations, and ensure alignment on deliverables.
  • Strong experience in test-driven development and/or test automation
  • Proficiency in one or more from each category below:

Frontend Technologies:

- JavaScript / TypeScript

- Frameworks: React, Angular, or Vue

- HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility

Backend Technologies:

- Node.js

- Python

- C#

- ASP.NET

- Java

Real-Time Integration:

- RESTful API development

- Bidirectional API

- WebSocket-based communication

- Event-driven architectures and microservices

Cloud & DevOps:

- AWS services: EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFront, API Gateway

- Containerization: Docker (or similar)

- CI/CD tools: GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, (or similar)

- Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform, CloudFormation (or similar)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting DHS or other federal agencies
  • Familiarity with five-nines (99.999%) uptime requirements
  • Exposure to real-time monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch)
  • Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards
  • Understanding of network security, encryption protocols, and security automation tools is important.

About Us:
