Job Description

The Financial Planning Associate (FPA) will support out advisors in delivering financial plans to clients through a comprehensive planning process that integrates risk and investment products. The FPA will help increase productivity by enhancing meeting preparation and ensuring a seamless planning workflow. This position is ideal for an individual motivated by the behind-the-scenes work that helps clients achieve their financial planning goals. The ideal candidate is constantly learning and applying knowledge to optimize processes and ensure a smooth, efficient practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a great teammate
  • Client meeting preparation
  • Utilize Northwestern Mutual’s financial planning software to build personalized financial plans
  • Compile client notes history
  • Run Consolidated Client View Reports
  • Investigate client record for any relevant documentation
  • Create meeting agenda templates
  • Run Morningstar reports
  • Prepare investment advisory proposals
  • Run new and in-force insurance illustrations
  • Ensure proper information sharing is on file
  • Ensure proper disclosures are prepared for meetings
  • Create meeting presentation visuals
  • Print or prepare for emailing client documents
  • Understand and navigate the various software systems the firm uses for financial planning
  • Working with Northwestern Mutual’s home office to coordinate research, reports and plans
  • Maintaining a compliant practice ensuring client documents are electronically filed
  • Client meeting follow-up tasks that require financial planning research

Additional

  • Maintain a team focused attitude and be prepared to help wherever necessary
  • Complete ad-hoc projects as needed
  • One year experience in the securities/financial planning industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Obtain Life Accident & Health, SIE, Series 7 and Series 63 within 2 years of employment
