Job Title: Director of Behavioral Health

Shift: Days, 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM

Location: Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547

Hospital Type: 267-bed acute care hospital

Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Job Summary and Qualifications:

The Director of Behavioral Health ensures high-quality, patient-centered care through the oversight of the behavioral health unit, including staffing, forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. This role emphasizes leadership in advancing patient safety and improving clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Oversight: Manage clinical practices, ensuring patient care meets high standards, adhering to evidence-based practices, and improving patient safety.
  • Staff Management: Oversee approximately 24 full-time employees (FTEs), fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee staffing, budget management, patient throughput, and care coordination, ensuring efficient and cost-effective care delivery.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement clinical and operational policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Patient Experience: Drive initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes, leveraging feedback to enhance service delivery.
  • Employee Engagement: Promote staff development, recognizing and supporting employees, providing coaching, feedback, and training to improve performance.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with leadership to identify new service offerings, drive growth, and enhance service delivery.
  • Financial Management: Manage the department's budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings while maintaining high-quality care standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5 years of recent (within the last year) acute care inpatient Behavioral Health management experience. Prior experience as a Behavioral Health Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager is required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • RN License required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days of employment.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Other: Fingerprint check required.

Unit Details:

  • Trauma Level: Level II Trauma Center
  • Bed Count: 48-bed Behavioral Health Unit
  • Average Daily Census: 38 patients
