Job Description

Job Summary:

Our Data Analysts will leverage their knowledge of systems, organizational structure, regulatory requirements and mathematical/statistical expertise to develop new datasets, provide oversight to processes and systems affecting data quality, and perform exploratory analysis to discover new insights. Individuals in this position will work to develop and implement business cases to apply the insights discovered to modify business processes and systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of work produced. This role enables various work groups to use and trust the organization’s data with the ultimate goal of realizing the data’s full potential.

In this role, you should be highly analytical with a knack for data analysis. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for extracting and interpreting data. We also want to see a passion for learning and research.

Essential Functions:

§ Automated data extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources to prepare datasets and visualizations for end users.

§ Develop dashboards, scorecards, and other visualizations to support exploratory analysis and business request.

§ Leverage expertise in business systems, processes, and data sets to serve as a champion for improved data quality and accurate data use across the organization.

§ Assist in refining and prioritizing work requests (self-created and submitted by other business units) to optimize collection and use of data to improve efficiency, improve data quality, improve customer service, and reduce costs.

§ Constant, self-motivated pursuit of learning systems, organizational structure, processes, data sets, techniques, etc.

§ Operate with direct supervision, guidance, and direction from leadership and senior staff.

Basic Qualifications:

Education:

§ Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.

Experience :

  • Use of data visualization software like PowerBI and/or Tableau
  • Experience with Data Warehousing technology like Oracle Databases, SAP HANA, Google BigQuery
  • Experience with exploring and visualizing large datasets
  • Programming experience in SQL language
  • Project management experience
  • Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Preferred Experience:

  • Programming experience in language including Python
  • Use of corporate systems including but not limited to Maximo, SAP, Service HUB, OnBase, FileNet, ESRI
  • Use of data wrangling/ETL software like KNIME, Golden Retriever, etc.
  • Utility experience
  • Experience with data governance
  • Experience interacting with employees of all levels to present technical data in a non-technical manner

Physical Requirements

§ Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to support the Emergency Operating Plan.
  • Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether open office, cubicle or private office.

§ Able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight.
