The ideal candidate will be a hands-on individual with a proven track record of driving process improvements, cost reductions, and successful product launches within the aerospace industry, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and DFAR .
Responsibilities
- Process Documentation: Develop and maintain clear and concise work instructions, ensuring adherence to AS9100 and internal aerospace standards and specifications for consistent process execution.
- Time Studies: Conduct precise time studies to accurately measure cycle times and identify opportunities for improvement in highly regulated aerospace assembly and manufacturing operations.
- Line Balancing: Analyze and balance aerospace production lines to optimize workflow, minimize bottlenecks, and maximize output while maintaining critical quality and safety standards for rocket ship parts.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality in aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, root causes of non-conformances, and potential solutions specific to aerospace production.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging employee involvement and problem-solving, integrating Lean and Six Sigma methodologies adapted for aerospace.
- BOM Routing/Costing: Maintain and update Bill of Materials (BOM) routing and costing information in SAP or other ERP systems to ensure accurate cost calculations and production planning for aerospace components and assemblies.
- Production Capacity Analysis: Analyze aerospace production capacity to identify constraints, optimize resource allocation, and ensure timely delivery of products while meeting stringent aerospace schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an aerospace manufacturing or MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) environment, specifically in the production of critical components for rocket ships or similar high-reliability applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis in complex systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab, SQL, Power BI).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across engineering, production, and quality teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a highly skilled team.
- Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, including precision machining, composites, welding, and assembly.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and Kaizen methodology , specifically applied within an aerospace context.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Experience working with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) or similar aerospace product development processes.
- Knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, PPAP, SPC, etc.) as applied in aerospace quality systems ( AS9100).
- Familiarity with DFAR (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement) requirements as they pertain to manufacturing processes and materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing of critical components or assemblies for space launch vehicles.
- Experience with specific aerospace systems (e.g., propulsion, rocket motor casings, advanced structures).
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and its application in aerospace.
- Proficient with automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies in aerospace.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems commonly used in aerospace (e.g., Oracle EBS, IFS).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks , CATIA, or similar CAD software for fixture and gauge design in aerospace applications.
- Experience in aerospace-grade welding processes and procedures (e.g., TIG, Laser Welding).
- Knowledge of robotic programming and operation for aerospace manufacturing.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification .
ITAR Compliance is Essential: As this position may involve access to ITAR-controlled information, adherence to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations is a requirement. For compliance purposes, only U.S. persons (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents) are eligible for this position.
