About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):

The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

Role Overview:

The Computer Operator serves on a team that is the central point of command and control for a wide variety of IT systems and application support in an enterprise data center. You will define, monitor, and respond to various alerts, alarms, and workloads. Systems include Windows, Linux, Unix, z/Os, and various network components. You will use tools such as CA7, CA11, TSO, SDSF, Orion, and others. This area is staffed 24x7x365. You must be able to work in a fast-paced, and sometimes high-stress environment. 

 

This is a 3rd shift position. Hours are 12:00 am to 8:30 am. You will work weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule.

 

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $40,404 but may be commensurate with education and job experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:  

  • Assist with configuring, maintaining, and supporting applications. 
  • Operate and monitor various mainframe and midrange computer systems.
  • Troubleshoot applicationw and customer issues via email, application dashboards, and q ticketing system. 
  • Assist with maintaining agency job scheduling requests and verification.
  • Operate computers, printers, storage devices, tape drivers and related equipment. 
  • Clean computers, tapes and printers. 
  • Direct and review work of lower-level operators on a periodic basis. 
  • Work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Working knowledge of Jjob Ccontrol Llanguage (JCL) and /or other scripting languages. 
  • Ability to operate various types of computer systems and related equipment. 
  • Ability to give clear detailed instructions. 
  • Ability to relay requested information quickly and accurately. 
  • Ability to multitask and monitor several applications and dashboards simultaneously. 
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
