Category Manager – SOW Review & Negotiation

Location: San Rafael, CA (Hybrid)

15-month assignment (potential to extend / convert)

Pay: $55/ HR

Our client, a world leader bio-tech company who focuses on delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases, is looking for a Category Manager – SOW Review & Negotiation to join their team. You will be responsible for managing over 2,400 SOWs a year and oversee the review and negotiation of SOWs valued under $100,000.

Key Responsibilities:

SOW Review and Negotiation

• Review and negotiate SOWs to ensure alignment with Legal’s annotated clause guidance.
• Ensure all SOWs comply with internal sourcing policies, including competitive bidding and preferred supplier protocols.
• Proactively identify risks and ensure protective contract terms are in place.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with internal teams to understand project scopes, timelines, and service requirements.
• Advise stakeholders on structuring SOWs to support strategic and operational goals.

Supplier Engagement

• Serve as the primary liaison with suppliers during SOW negotiation processes.
• Resolve conflicts and align with suppliers on mutually beneficial contract terms.

Process Management and Reporting

• Maintain an efficient, scalable process for reviewing and finalizing high volumes of SOWs.
• Document negotiations and maintain detailed records of final agreements.
• Track and report on key metrics such as turnaround times and policy compliance for inclusion in KPI dashboards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, contract negotiation, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of procurement platforms and contract management tools such as Coupa, Ariba, or Icertis.
• Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to interpret legal clauses and apply sourcing guidelines with a high degree of accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills; capable of managing a high volume of contracts in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a firm commitment to compliance and risk mitigation.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required.
